Empowering Movement,
confidence, and Community
Inspiring lives through the art of pole and dance.
Fluid & Gooey Heels Technique
Fluidity. It’s the holy grail of heels dancing. Developing fluidity in your movement practice is as much a science as an art. In this 90 minute workshop, we’ll learn the technical elements and skills needed to develop four foundational fluidity elements: leg waves, skating, body isolations, and pirouettes. In each movement, we’ll explore how spinal twists, extension, hip rotations, weight transfers, and toe box balance add texture, expressiveness, and a gooeyness to your dance. At the end of class, we’ll put it all together in a part-choreography, part-freedance sequence.
This workshop is for all levels of students looking to develop smooth transitions and clean technique in their heels work.
Heels optional/kneepads required.
Hard Style Heelswork.
This workshop focuses on the hard style of heels, what we call Force Technique. We’ll learn how to harness the momentum and explosive force your body can create with the pole and the floor to perform exciting, jaw dropping heels tricks. We’ll crack the code of how to safely build these elements from the ground up to add a new level of freedom and power to your dance. This workshop will explore:
Throws
Drop Splits
Triple Spin (Directional Changes)
Arabesque Get Ups (Pop Ups)
After learning the basics for each Force element, we’ll build them into fierce and fun choreography with some of the hottest ballistic transitions that will leave your audience’s jaw on the floor.
Knee pads and closed toe boots are required for this workshop.
Kips, From The Ground Up.
In this workshop, we’ll work on kips, one of the wow factor ground moves of hard style heels choreography.
The focus of this workshop will be kip preparation using a pole and heels. Amy will lead students through a detailed technical breakdown of kips and throws to discuss proper roll down technique, both on and off the pole. We will then apply the echnical and theoretical kip training to kip variations including: pole assisted kips, handstand kips, shoulder mount kips and kips from a throw off the pole.
Knee pads and closed toed heels are required for this workshop.
Fishflop Foundations
In this workshop, we’ll learn the training progressions for unlocking fishflop and fishflop variations! First we’ll develop unique shape holds in shoulder roll and shoulderstand progressions, then we’ll take those inversions towards dynamic and explosive fishflops. Students will learn how to use the pole for new fishflop variations and learn how to stall in inversions to create interesting leg play with waves, pops and prances.
Prerequisites: Shoulder roll to knees, plow position, cobra hold with shoulders away from ears
Knee pads are required for this workshop.
Kips, Rolls and Throws
In this buffet of dynamic introductory movement, we will explore three foundational heels work movements: Kips, Rolls and Throws. We’ll cover the foundational techniques required in order to perform each movement successfully in a fun and *safe* way including how to properly warm yourself up, develop ankle strength and mobility, toe box control and roll down technique, and glute activation. We’ll play with beginner and intermediate progressions of each movement to ensure there’s something for everyone. This workshop will leave you feeling like you’re flying through the air!
Knee pads and closed toed heels are required for this workshop.
